Signild Elisabeth Fog Thygesen is a Danish circus artist specialized in static trapeze. She holds a BA in circus from Fontys Academy for Circus and Performing Arts, Tilburg - Netherlands. Since graduating from ACAPA in 2019 she has worked as a circus performer in different contexts: interdisciplinary theater productions, circus productions, site-specific projects and various events - in different roles both on and off stage.

 

She has performed in productions by Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium and is currently active in FUCKD by Dynamo Workspace. Along site she creates and perform shorter solos at different events and engage in collaborations with artist of various backgrounds - dancers, musicians and actors.

I first encountered circus through an acrobatic course at Gøglerskolen (Street Art Academy) in 2013. The love was immediate and acrobatic training rapidly became a dominating part of my everyday life. Eager to learn, explore and advance within aerial acrobatics I moved to Berlin to train amongst professional circus artist and later to the Netherlands to study circus at ACAPA.

In my solo work I move between a melancholic and playful vibe as I create awkward, poetic images with my body and apparatus. I'm inspired by genres like impressionism and magic realism, both in literature and painting. 

I seek out projects and events that brings my skills and experience as a circus artist out of the traditional venues and challenge the common perception of circus.
